Tyin Filefjell Extreme on September 5, 2026, and the signature distance has now been extended to a half marathon with a total of 1050 meters of elevation gain.

Course

The Extreme distance traverses majestic surroundings with a route over the mountains Skørsnøse, Støgonøse, and Børrenøse. A total of 21 km and 1050 vertical meters, with the highest point at 1455 meters above sea level. 

Length: 21 km

Ascent: 1050 m.  

Surface: 

  • Trail – approx. 17 km  
  • Gravel road – approx. 3 km 
  • Asphalt – approx 1 km 

Marking: The course will be marked, but all runners are also obliged to familiarize themselves thoroughly with the course route in advance.

Mandatory packing list

All participants must carry all mandatory equipment either in their backpack or on their person. A gear check will be conducted during registration, where participants must present all items on the list below.

  • Fully charged mobile phone with the race's emergency number saved. Emergency number to be provided. 

  • Bank card/identification

  • Minimum 0.5 L drink  

  • Wind and waterproof jacket with hood 

  • Beanie, gloves, and buff

There will be two drink stations along the course. 

Kyrkjestølen 

  • After approx. 10 km

  • Food and drink: Water, sports drink, nuts, chocolate, bananas, coffee

Vidsyn Eldstøgo / Børrenøse

  • After approx. 17 km

Max number of participants: 300

Registration, bib number collection, and bag check: It will be possible to register on Friday from 18:00 to 21:00 or Saturday from 09:00 to 10:30. Registration takes place at Filefjellstuene, and all runners must attend in person. We encourage everyone who can to register on Friday, as a large turnout is expected on Saturday.

Upon registration, you must present your pack with all items listed on the mandatory packing list. If you are missing anything, you will not be allowed to start.

Information Meeting: Personal attendance at the information meeting, held at Filefjellstuene at 11:00 AM, is mandatory. Runners who do not attend will not be permitted to start. Important information regarding the race execution and updated trail conditions will be provided.  

Regulations: By registering, you agree to the race regulations and are obliged to sign a disclaimer when collecting your bib number.

Transfer of registration from 2025: Since the 2025 edition of Tyin Filefjell Extreme had to be cancelled due to extreme and unforeseen weather conditions, all those who were registered for the 2025 edition have had their registration automatically transferred to next year's event, without extra cost or the need for new registration. This does not apply to those who cancelled their registration before the cancellation. 

Cancellation: If you are unable to participate in the race, please kindly inform us. 

Conditions: Our team continuously assesses the conditions regarding snow/ground, weather, wind, and your safety. If changes occur that require adjustments to the race course, registered participants will be informed. 

Showers: Showers will be available after the finish line at Filefjellstuene. Shower use is free, but as there are only two showers available, please expect some waiting time. Bring your own towel and soap.  

Award Ceremony: All runners will receive a participant medal upon finishing. The award ceremony starts at 5:00 PM. Please note that personal attendance at the award ceremony is necessary to receive any prizes you have won.
