Trail

The Extreme distance runs in majestic surroundings with a route over the mountains Skørsnøse , Støgonøse and Børrenøse. A total of 21 km and 1050 meters of elevation gain, with the highest point at 1455 meters above sea level. 

Length: 21 km

Elevation: 1050 m.  

Substrate: 

  • Trail – about 17 km  
  • Gravel road – about 3 km 
  • Asphalt – about 1 km 

Marking: The course will be marked, but all runners are also required to familiarize themselves with the course beforehand.

Mandatory packing list

All participants must have all mandatory equipment either in their backpack or on their body. There will be a bag check upon registration where participants must present everything on the list below.

  • Fully charged mobile phone with the race's emergency number saved. Emergency number coming. 

  • Bank card/ID

  • Minimum 0.5 l drink  

  • Wind and waterproof jacket with hood 

  • Hat, gloves and buff

There will be two drink stations along the course. 

The churchyard 

  • After about 10 km

  • Food and drinks: Water, sports drinks, nuts, chocolate, bananas, coffee

  • Facilities: First aid

Max number of participants: 300

Registration, pick-up of starting numbers and bag check: It will be possible to register on Friday from 18:00 to 21:00 or Saturday 09:00 to 10:30. Registration will take place at Filefjellstuene, and all runners must show up in person. We encourage everyone who has the opportunity to register on Friday, as a large turnout is expected on Saturday.

When registering, you must present a bag with everything listed on the mandatory packing list. If you are missing anything, you will not be allowed to start.

Information meeting: It is mandatory to attend the information meeting in person, which will take place at Filefjellstuene at 11:00. Runners who do not show up will not be allowed to start. Important information about the race and updated advance notices will be provided here.  

Regulations: By registering, you accept the race regulations and are required to sign a liability waiver when collecting your start number.

Transfer of registration from 2025: Since the 2025 edition of Tyin Filefjell Extreme had to be cancelled due to extreme and unforeseen weather conditions, everyone who was registered for the 2025 edition has had their registration automatically transferred to next year's event, at no extra cost or need for new registration. This does not apply to those who cancelled before the cancellation. 

Cancellation: If you are unable to participate in the race, please let us know. 

Guide: Our team is continuously assessing the conditions in terms of guide, weather, wind and your safety. If there are changes that require adjustments to the course, registered participants will be informed. 

Shower: There will be access to showers after the finish at Filefjellstuene. Use of the showers is free, but there are only two showers available, so you will need to expect some waiting time. Bring your own towel and soap. 

Prize giving: All runners will receive a participant medal at the finish line. The prize giving will start at 17:00. Please note that personal attendance at the prize giving is required to receive any prizes you have won.
