Mountain hike over Filefjellseggen
The mountain hike where the view never ends.

The hike over Filefjellseggen takes you from Kyrkjestølen and over the viewpoint peaks of Støgonøse (1425 m) and Skørsnøse (1453 m) – with fantastic views in all directions along the entire trail.
The view down towards Otrøvatnet, which is a few hundred meters below the ridge, is particularly impressive, and not least towards the large peaks of Jotunheimen. Hurrungane in particular looms impressively on the horizon. Make sure you have enough time to enjoy the surroundings!
Filefjellseggen is a great and varied mountain hike for those who want a longer but manageable day trip in the high mountains.
The hike starts at Kyrkjestølen, where you follow a well-marked trail in a steady climb up to Støgonøse (1425 m). Along the way, the landscape opens up, and you get increasingly better views of Jotunheimen.
From Støgonøse the hike continues in slightly hilly terrain over the ridge towards Skørsnøse (1453 m) – the highest point of the hike. The ridge is wide and safe, with a good path all the way. This is a nice stage with many great places to take breaks and enjoy the view.
From Skørsnøse the trail goes downhill towards Grihamarstølen, with nice sections on a clearly marked trail. Here it might be smart to have arranged a ride, or possibly leave a car behind – and then travel back to Kyrkjestølen.
If you stay with us at Filefjellstuene, we will be happy to drive you to the starting point of the trip - and you can also walk back to us at your own pace.
