Experience beautiful Utladalen and Vettisfossen

The 275-meter-high Vettisfossen in the Utladalen Landscape Protection Area is Norway's highest unregulated waterfall.

From Tyinkrysset, first drive Fv 53 to Øvre Årdal, then turn off towards Utladalen in the town center. Follow the road to the large parking lot at Hjelle. The drive from Tyinkrysset takes approximately 45 minutes.

The hike to the waterfall starts from the parking lot at Hjelle, and follows the voluntarily built Folkevegen to Vetti Gard for the first 5 kilometers. This road was originally built by the people of Årdal through voluntary work to connect the roadless community in Vetti with the rest of the village.

From Vetti Gard, the hike continues through slightly more hilly terrain towards the base of Vettisfossen. From here, you can also choose to take a steeper path to the top of the waterfall, where a viewpoint has recently been opened that is guaranteed to give you butterflies.

The trip can also be extended into a larger round trip around Ulsanosi. See signage at the parking lot in Hjelle.
