A good starting point is parking along Tyinvegen (Fv. 53), approximately 500 meters after the turn-off towards Eidsbugarden. There you will find a designated parking bay.

The trip starts with a shorter uphill climb of about 100 vertical meters, up to the outlet of Galdtjernet. From here, the lake is crossed before following the northwest ridge further towards the summit, preferably along the gentlest lines.

Along the ridge, the terrain is even and clear, offering good opportunities to adapt the route to the conditions. Although the ridge feels relatively gentle, the terrain drops more steeply to the east, which should be considered along the way, especially in poor visibility.

The summit at 1404 m.a.s.l. offers good views of the area. From here, you can see Tyin and the mountains of Jotunheimen to the north, Øye and Vang to the east, while the landscape opens up southwards towards Hemsedal and Filefjell.

The descent normally follows the same route as the ascent. The upper section consists of clear formations and a few smaller, steeper slopes that can be easily avoided. Enjoyable cruising from the ridge by the lake down towards the road. For a longer trip, one can follow the ridge system further towards Galden and Tyinstølsnøse, and find good descents towards County Road 53 depending on the conditions.

Stølsnøse is well suited for those who want a clear ski tour with simple and flexible route choices.
