Randonée and summit tour courses
An educational course with a focus on safe travel and technique both up and down.
Have you purchased hiking equipment/splitboard or want to learn how to travel off-piste? Then this hiking and mountaineering course is right for you.
The entire course is practically designed and we get out into the mountains as quickly as possible. The course takes place in small groups of up to 6 people, this ensures a good learning environment. A long day out in the winter mountains can be demanding and participants will be tested on clothing and other equipment in safe surroundings.
Learn about safe route choices, snow and safety on your trip! Suitable for those who can ski/board on groomed trails, but want to learn more about traveling safely in the mountains on their own.
This 2-day course is suitable for those who have no avalanche knowledge and want to learn about safe travel on a mountain hike. Here we start at the beginning. Come as you are and join us in creating a good learning environment.
The trips will mainly take place in the Tyin-Filefjell area, where the terrain provides good opportunities for easy and fun skiing and varied terrain with good learning opportunities.
Learning objectives:
- Track selection and movement in terrain
- Get to know your own equipment
- Recognizing avalanche terrain
- Using rule-based methods for planning and decision-making on the go
- Know how human factors affect group dynamics
- Be able to conduct effective buddy rescue
- Knowledge of different types of snow

- Snow knowledge and avalanche safety
- Use and assessment of avalanche warnings
- Trip planning
- Terrain assessments and route selection
- Driving pattern
- Camera rescue with transmitter/receiver, search rod and shovel
- Human factor

About the course instructor
Tau and Tind have taken over the business of Tyin Aktiv – and continues 25 years of experience with guiding in the area and is well known for its kite courses and guided tours to Uranostind and Falketind.
In recent years, the activity menu has been expanded to include randoneé summit hikes and avalanche courses. The nature at Tyin Filefjell is experienced even better with local guides.
