Summit hike to Gamleheisen and Galden

Important information
Use the information on this page for hiking tips and to get an impression of the trip. NOT to make safe choices in the mountains. You should use your own expertise and experience for that, or hire a guide. Tyin Aktiv has skilled and locally known guides, and can be reached by email booking@tyin.no or by phone 46 665 665.
Gentle ascent with the possibility of both easy and steep descents is the key word for Tyinstølnøse.
The old elevator is a safe and fast ride.
When you stand by the car and look south-west, you see the mountainside where the old lift at Tyin stood. Take the track up Galdsbekken and head west by the water so you can follow the ridge to the 1250m elevation where the top mast was in operation until the 1980s. From here you can drive down the old lift track. Although the trip is short, you will get high enough that the view has the packed lunch factor.
If you drive straight towards the car, it may be steep enough for an avalanche to break loose. Therefore, be confident in the conditions if you choose this descent.
The Galleon
If you want a longer hike than the old lift, you can continue the ridge northwest all the way to the top of Galden. Here the landscape opens up and the view is impeccable.
The safest route is the same way down into gentle terrain. If you want a challenge, there are several descents that are steeper, but be aware of weather and road conditions as these may be prone to avalanches.
Parking: Pocket along rv 53 at the southwest end of Tyin Vannet, by Galdsbekken.
