The starting point is at Grihamarstølen along Nystøgovegen. There is a designated, paid parking lot (Vipps) at Grihamarstølen.

From the parking lot, you walk through slightly hilly and forested terrain, heading northwest along the summer trail. As you get higher, the route turns west and then south towards the mountaintop. Around 1100 meters above sea level on the north side, you walk in the avalanche exit zone, and between about 1150 and 1200 meters above sea level you must walk carefully to stay below 30 degrees. Here it is important to choose the gentlest line and assess the conditions.

You then follow ridges and open flanks towards the summit. The terrain is clear, but requires active route selection along the way.

The peak at 1453 m above sea level offers a wide view of Filefjell and Tyin, as well as the surrounding mountain areas, with good visibility towards Jotunheimen on clear days.

The descent normally follows the same route as the ascent, and provides great skiing in open terrain.

Skørsnøse provides a relatively short, but full-fledged summit hiking experience, with a clear high mountain feel and several opportunities for adaptation along the way. The hike is more demanding than, for example, Finndalshornet, and is best suited for those with some experience in route selection and terrain assessment.

Alternative route: Start from the parking lot at the entrance to Oppdalsstølen, and walk up Bjørdalen until it flattens out. Turn southwest towards Skørsnøse when you pass the hill on the left in the valley and cross the river. Then directly southwest towards the top. Keep the gentlest line towards the ridge where you meet the summer path, and the track from Grihamarstølen. This trip is somewhat longer than from Grihamarstølen, but offers longer sustained driving.

Ski in / Ski out:
For guests at Filefjellstuene, it is possible to start the hike directly from the door, via Grihamarstølen.
