A good starting point is parking along Tyinvegen (Fv. 53), about 500 meters after the exit towards Eidsbugarden. There you will find a designated parking space (click for Google Maps link)

The hike starts with a shorter uphill climb of around 100 meters in altitude, up to the mouth of Galdtjernet. From here, you cross the water, before following the northwest ridge further towards the summit, preferably along the gentlest lines.

Along the ridge, the terrain is smooth and clear, and there are good opportunities to adapt the route to the conditions. Although the ridge feels relatively gentle, the terrain drops off steeply to the east, which should be taken into account along the way, especially in poor visibility.

The peak at 1404 meters above sea level offers a good view of the area. From here you can see Tyin and the mountains of Jotunheimen to the north, Øye and Vang to the east, while the landscape opens up south towards Hemsedal and Filefjell.

The descent normally follows the same route as the ascent. The upper part consists of clear formations and a few smaller steeper slopes that can be easily avoided. Nice ripple from the ridge by the water and down towards the road. For a longer trip you can follow the ridge system further towards Galden and Tyinstølsnøse, and find good descents towards FV53 depending on the conditions

Stølsnøse is well suited for those who want a clear summit tour with simple and flexible route choices.
