On two wheels among the major peaks of Jotunheimen.

Young couple on a bike ride in Koldedalen

A bike ride along Tyin and into Koldedalen offers close contact with large lakes, rushing rivers and the peaks of Jotunheimen – with good opportunities to stock up on lunch, waffles and pastries along the way.

This tour is in relatively easy terrain with Tyinkrysset or Tyin as the starting point. You choose how long you want to make it.

To Tyinholmen or Eidsbugarden

From Filefjellstuene/Tyinkrysset, cycle on county road 53 towards Tyin/Årdal, and turn right after the top of the slopes – at the apartment building at the south end of Tyin. There is also parking here, if you want to drive up. From here it is approx. 20 km on a nice gravel road to Fondsbu/Eidsbugarden and the mountain lake Bygdin. At the DNT hut Fondsbu, both pastries, lunch and dinner are served. Cycle back the same way.

Through Koldedalen

Another option is to visit the mighty Koldedalen, where you can get a close visual contact with Falketind (2068 m). The road to here is a construction road, so you should have relatively rough tires to avoid punctures. On the way back from Koldedalen, a stop at the Tyinholmen tourist hut for fresh waffles is recommended.
