Tyin - Koldedalen
On two wheels among the great peaks of Jotunheimen.
A bike tour along Tyin and into Koldedalen offers close encounters with large lakes, rushing rivers, and the grand peaks of Jotunheimen – with good opportunities for lunch, waffles, and baked goods along the way.
This tour is in relatively easy cycling terrain, starting from Tyinkrysset or Tyin. You choose how long you want to make it.
To Tyinholmen or Eidsbugarden
From Filefjellstuene/Tyinkrysset, cycle county road 53 towards Tyin/Årdal, and turn right after the top of the hills – by the apartment building at the southern end of Tyin. Parking is also available here if you wish to drive up. From here, it's approximately 20 kilometers on a good gravel road to Fondsbu/Eidsbugarden and the mountain lake Bygdin. At the DNT cabin Fondsbu, baked goods, lunch, and dinner are served. Cycle back the same way.
Via Koldedalen
Another option is to include a trip through the magnificent Koldedalen, where you get a close-up view of Falketind (2068 masl). The road into this area is a construction road, so you should have relatively robust tires to avoid punctures. On the way back from Koldedalen, a stop at the Tyinholmen tourist cabin for fresh waffles is recommended.
