Falketind - Pioneer Route
A true classic in Norwegian mountain sports
Falketind with guide
This peak was first climbed in 1820. This is considered the start of Norway's mountain adventure and the first alpine ascent in Norway.
The 2,067-meter-high Falketinden is a real classic, and the hike up the pioneer route includes both a glacier passage and exciting rope stretches with climbing/cleaving before the summit push. This is the perfect hike for those who have some experience with peaks and are ready for an airy challenge in alpine terrain.

Meeting point:
We will meet at 08:00 at Koldedalsvegen. Take the exit to the left onto Koldedalsvegen and drive approx. 100 meters inland. Stop at the gravel pocket on the right side of the road. This is on the lower side of Tyinholmen, right by Tyinvannet (see map section for exact location).
Here we gather and drive on in private cars to the end of the road. NOTE! This is a construction road that is potholed. At the end of the road and large parts of the trip will take place in areas without mobile coverage.
Packing list:
We provide the necessary glacier and climbing equipment for the trip. This will be distributed before the start of the trip and participants must allow some space in their own backpack to carry a climbing harness, ice axe, helmet and crampons. The crampons are universal and should fit most rigid mountain boots.
Participants must provide themselves with:

- Sunglasses (no matter the weather)
- gloves
- hat
- waterproof and windproof outerwear
- warm midlayer (wool/fleece/down)

- enough food and drink for a day out
