A landmark with magnificent views
A short drive from Tyin Filefjell, you'll find a true landmark offering magnificent views over Valdres and Jotunheimen.
Anyone who has driven E16 through Vang has likely noticed Grindane, also known as Grindafjellet. The 1724-meter-high peak towers over the village and looks quite impassable from its steep northern side.
However, if you drive towards Helin and Smådalen (toll road, payable by card), you will find the starting point for the hike – and from the south side, this hike is accessible for most people with some mountain hiking experience.
From the summit, you have an impeccable view towards Jotunheimen, Helin, and Smådalen - but if you have extra energy, we also recommend a trip to the viewpoint "Veslenibb", from where you have a fantastic view down towards the Vang village and Vangsmjøse. Allow an additional 45 minutes for the detour to this viewpoint.
Allow 4-5 hours for this hike in total.
