Hike to Mjølkedalsbreen Glacier

Here you are close to Jotunheimen's high peaks, while also being in a landscape that is undergoing significant change.
The hike starts from Eidsbugarden, where there are good parking facilities. From here, follow the marked DNT trail towards Olavsbu until you reach the plateau where Store Mjølkedalsvatnet (Lake Store Mjølkedal) reveals itself.
From here, you can choose to return to Eidsbugarden if you wish. If you have more energy, we recommend continuing the hike on the west side of the lake towards the glacier front. Like other glaciers in Jotunheimen, Mjølkedalsbreen has also retreated significantly in recent decades, and as you approach the glacier front, the traces of these major changes become clearly visible.
When leaving the DNT trail, you enter unmarked terrain, and some sections can be rocky and slippery. Return the same way when you feel it's time to turn back.
