Mountain hike to Støgonøse
Viewpoint with exciting history
Short, nice hike up from Nystuen to a magnificent view
No other mountain peak is as striking from Tyinkrysset as the 1,453-meter-high Skørsnøse.
Start the hike by walking through the Varden cabin field west of Nystuen Hotell. Continue steeply up the stream from Vesleskardtjern. Then turn right along the ridge up to the top of Støgonøse. Be aware that it is steep back down towards Otrøvatnet when you walk along this ridge.
1.5 hours up. Same way back or you can choose to continue towards Skørsnøse.
At the top is an unusual structure, supposedly built by German soldiers during World War II. It is said to have been used as a lookout post. On one wall you will find a mailbox where you can write in a book for having visited the top.
