Experience beautiful Utladalen and Vettisfossen

The 275-meter-high Vettisfossen waterfall in the Utladalen landscape conservation area is Norway's highest unregulated waterfall.

From Tyinkrysset, first drive Fv 53 to Øvre Årdal, and turn off for Utladalen in the center. Follow the road to the large parking lot at Hjelle. The drive from Tyinkrysset takes about 45 minutes.

The hike to the waterfall starts from the parking lot at Hjelle, and follows the volunteer-built Folkevegen to Vetti Gard for the first 5 kilometers. This road was once built with volunteer labor by the Årdølen to connect the roadless community of Vetti with the rest of the village.

From Vetti Gard the hike continues on slightly more hilly terrain towards the foot of Vettisfossen. From here you can also choose to take a steeper path to the top of the waterfall, where a lookout point has recently been opened that is guaranteed to give you a thrill.

The trip can also be made into a larger round trip around Ulsanosi. See signs at the parking lot at Hjelle.
