The race weekend starts on Friday, September 4th with pre-run, registration, information meetings and refreshments at Filefjellstuene.

Børrenøse Skyrace and Extreme 21 km start and finish at Filefjellstuene. Ultra 53 km starts at Sveji, with shared transport to the start on Saturday morning, and finishes at Filefjellstuene.

You can choose between Børrenøse Skyrace at 7 km and 450 meters of elevation gain, Extreme at 21 km and 1050 meters of elevation gain and Ultra at 53 km and 2900 meters of elevation gain.

Børrenøse Skyrace is suitable for those who want an accessible mountain challenge and would like to walk, jog or run. Extreme is suitable for well-trained and mountain-accustomed runners who want a demanding half marathon in the high mountains. Ultra is for experienced mountain and ultra runners who are used to long distances and navigation with GPS.

Yes. You can walk, jog or run the Børrenøse Skyrace at your own pace. However, you should be somewhat accustomed to traveling in the mountains and dress for changing high mountain weather.

Børrenøse Skyrace is open to children and adults. Participants who are 12 years old or younger must complete the race with an adult over 18 years old.

Børrenøse Skyrace is open to everyone, with an adult companion required for participants aged 12 or younger. Extreme and Ultra have an age limit of 16 years.

Yes. At Børrenøse Skyrace, companies, sports teams, associations, families and groups of friends can represent the same team. Everyone participates and signs up individually, but is registered under the same team name.

The first participant enters the agreed team name in the registration form. Once the team is registered, subsequent participants can find and select the same team in the drop-down menu. Everyone registers and pays individually.

Start numbers can be collected at Filefjellstuene.

Ultra (53 km):

Extreme (21 km):

  • Friday at 5:00 PM-9:00 PM
  • Saturday at 09:00-10:45

Børrenøse Skyrace (7.5 km):

No. The start number must be collected in person, because all participants must sign the liability waiver upon delivery. Participants under the age of 18 must also have a signature from a guardian.

Registration for Tyin Filefjell Extreme closes on Friday, September 4. We recommend registering well in advance.

Please contact us (line@tyin.no) if you wish to change the distance. Changes can be made as long as there is available capacity, and any price difference must be paid.

Yes. If you are unable to participate, your starting spot can be transferred to another participant via My Page in EQ Timing.

No. The entry fee is non-refundable. See the entry rules for full terms and conditions.

Safety comes first. If weather, wind, snow or other unforeseen circumstances make it irresponsible to carry out the race as planned, the organizer may change the course or cancel the event. In the event of cancellation, the participation fee will not be refunded.

Extreme and Ultra have a mandatory packing list and equipment check. At Børrenøse, the packing list is recommended. See your distance page for a complete overview.

  • Ultra 53 km: Yes. The information meeting is mandatory. Important information is provided here about, among other things, weather, road conditions, safety and any changes to the course.
  • Extreme 21 km: The information meeting is not mandatory, but we strongly recommend that all participants attend.
  • Børrenøse Skyrace: There is no separate information meeting. Important information about the race, weather, road conditions and safety is given in the starting area just before the start .

Børrenøse and Extreme will be marked, but participants should also familiarize themselves with the route in advance. The Ultra trail will not be marked beyond existing markings in the terrain.

All distances have GPX files available, and we recommend that participants familiarize themselves with the course in advance. For Ultra, it is a requirement that the GPX file is downloaded before the start.

Yes. At Ultra you must have a handheld GPS or GPS watch with the race GPX file saved. GPS on a phone is not approved as the only navigation tool.

If weather, wind, snow or other unforeseen circumstances make it irresponsible to carry out the race as planned, the organizer may change the course or cancel the race. Registered participants must stay updated on information from the organizer leading up to and during the event.

Yes. Børrenøse has one drink station, Extreme has two and Ultra has four food and drink stations. The offerings vary between the stations.

At Ultra, your own food and a minimum of 0.5 liters of drink are part of the mandatory equipment. Extreme requires a minimum of 0.5 liters of drink. At Børrenøse there is one drink station along the way. In any case, participants should assess their own needs based on distance, weather and expected time spent.

If you have to break the race, you must immediately notify the nearest official or contact the race emergency number. It is important that you do not leave the race without the organizer knowing that you have broken.

In the event of an emergency, you must help to the best of your ability and notify the organizer. The Grindaheim Red Cross Rescue Corps will assist during the event. In the event of an acute threat to life and health, call 113. The race's own emergency number will be published before the race day.

Yes. The organizer may remove a participant from the race if it is deemed necessary for safety reasons. You are then required to cancel the race, return to the nearest meeting point and follow the instructions from the organizer.

Running poles are allowed.

 It is important that you can hear messages from officials, other participants and the environment around you.

Parking for participants and spectators is at Tyinkrysset Fjellstue . Due to limited capacity, there is no opportunity to park at Filefjellstuene on race day.

Allow some extra time for parking and further walking/transportation to the event area. Ultra participants will follow their own transportation solution to the start.

Yes. There will be changing rooms and shower facilities at Filefjellstuene . One of the apartments in the area will be used for this. Capacity is limited, so there may be some waiting time.

For Ultra , participants can leave a small bag or backpack in one of the minibuses used for transportation to the start. The luggage will be transported back to Filefjellstuene and stored in the car until the finish.

For Extreme , the large meeting room at Filefjellstuene can be used for storage during the race.

Storage is at your own risk.

Yes. There are toilets at Filefjellstuene , which is the start and finish area for Børrenøse Skyrace and Extreme, and the finish area for Ultra.

Ultra has a toilet at the Tyinkrysset intersection after about 23 km.

Yes. Everyone who completes will receive a participant medal at the finish line.

Yes – you are welcome! Family, friends and cheerleaders are welcome to go out along the trails and cheer on the participants, or join the race party at Filefjellstuene.

Throughout the day there will be food, a DJ, a speaker and ongoing updates from the slopes. Bring your friends and help create a real Extreme atmosphere!

 The speaker keeps the audience updated throughout the day with information and results from EQ Timing , and the development of the races is also shown on big screens at Filefjellstuene.
