Developing Tyin Filefjell is about collaboration over time
The ambition is to create long-term values for the future, in a destination with the potential to become an internationally attractive mountain destination.
To achieve this, we must build on the qualities that already exist, while at the same time developing a place that makes it possible to stay. Accommodation, activities, catering, jobs and accessibility must be interconnected and developed in tandem. The goal is to create lasting value, both for the local community and for a tourism industry that will function over time.
Glimpses from the Filefjell Conference
On Friday, March 20, the Filefjell Conference took place, where cooperation and development of the destination were the main themes.
Nature sets the conditions
We only build once, and the choices we make are permanent.
Therefore, we reduce interventions, steer clear of vulnerable areas and choose solutions that can withstand climate and use. At the same time, what we build must contribute to activity and life. We develop the city center more concentratedly to gather offers and create a basis for operation, while the buildings outside the city center are adapted to the landscape. A good balance between units for sale and rental is crucial. Rental provides use, and use creates life.
A stable guest base is a prerequisite for success
In recent years, we have built warm beds and worked purposefully with visibility and sales, both nationally and internationally.
This results in more foreign guests and longer stays. At the same time, capacity is still a limitation. If we are to grow further, we must develop more accommodation options and get more beds in use throughout the year. New offers and activities are emerging in collaboration with local players, entrepreneurs and partners. This strengthens both the destination and local value creation, and connects Tyin Filefjell more closely to the local community in Vang.
A well-functioning ski resort is an important part of the overall experience.
This is important both for attracting new guests and for getting people to stay longer.
At the same time, we can no longer take snow safety for granted. That's why we are working to strengthen snow production and develop a more reliable facility that provides a predictable start to the season and consistent quality throughout the winter.
To take the next step, we depend on good and predictable frameworks. The work that is now being done on regulation, infrastructure and capacity is crucial for progress, and provides an increasingly better basis for further development. It also provides increased security for investments and long-term priorities.
The development of Tyin Filefjell is a joint project
Landowners, the municipality, businesses and partners must pull in the same direction. The ambition is to build a destination that creates jobs, provides local value and functions over time.
