Tyin Filefjell is the gateway to Jotunheimen from the south.

Our mountains mark the divide between east and west Norway. The distance from Oslo or Bergen is the same, about 3.5 hours along the E16, the main road between our two largest cities.

E16 over Filefjell is considered the safest mountain pass between east and west, and is often open even if stormy weather in winter closes the roads over other mountain passes.

Distances to Tyin Filefjell

  • From Oslo: 262 km (E18 to Sandvika, then E16)
  • From Bergen: 256 km (E16 all the way)
  • From Lillehammer: 185 km (via Dokka, follow E16 from Fagernes)
